As of September 1, 2026, Thessaloniki’s historic Modiano Market has once again opened its doors. One hundred years after it first opened in 1925, this iconic landmark is embarking on a new chapter in its rich history. Its distinctive architecture meets contemporary aesthetics, creating an impressive and welcoming space in the heart of the city, a vibrant destination where shopping, gastronomy, and entertainment come together under the same historic roof.
The revived Market hosts an ecosystem of 30 shops, featuring distinct food, dining and market concepts. Restaurants, cafes, a traditional tsipouradiko, a classic Greek coffee shop, a bakery, a pastry shop, a dairy shop, a pizzeria, a burger bar, a wine & spirits shop, bars, a florist, fresh food stalls and a souvenir shop come together to offer a complete, all-day experience.
Following its complete and extensive reconstruction between 2017 and 2022, Fais Group leased the Central Food Market to Ergon Foods, which undertook the commercial redevelopment, as well as the overall curation and design of the new retail spaces. With deep respect for the building’s rich historical heritage, Thessaloniki’s Central Market returns to once again become a beloved part of everyday life for the people of Thessaloniki.
